Be the first to review

Located in the lower levels of Gwanghwamun Square, The Story of King Sejong and The Story of Admiral Yi Sunshin make up a dual exhibition that pays tribute to Sejong the Great, the 4th king of the Joseon Dynasty, and Admiral “Chungmugong” Yi Sunshin, a great Korean naval commander. Sejong the Great was responsible for some of the greatest achievements in the history of Korea, including the creation of Hangeul (the Korean alphabet) and great advancements in the areas of science, art, culture and politics. Admiral “Chungmugong” Yi Sunshin is a venerated national hero, noted for his victories against the Japanese navy during the Imjin war. About 230,000 people have visited this dual exhibition ever since King Sejong Story opened on October 9, 2009 (in honor of Hangeul Day) and Chungmugong Story opened on April 28, 2010 (in honor of Admiral Yi Sunshin’s date of birth). – Visitseoul.net
