Hiroshima Castle is one of the many beautiful sights this city has to offer. Although the original premises were destroyed in 1945 by the atomic bomb, it has since been restored to its former beauty. The keep itself is 5 stories tall, and the castle grounds are surrounded by a moat. Inside the grounds there is a shrine and restored buildings as well as some ruins. The main keep currently serves as a museum largely centered around the history of Hiroshima and the castle itself. Free entry is avaible everywhere except the museum, which costs 370 yen. One one floor visitors can even try on period dress and take pictures. Overall an interesting castle and an important piece of Hiroshima’s history.
